Why Drupal
The Benefits of Content Management Systems
Almost any content management system (CMS) is going to, in many ways, be superior to a basic HTML/CSS site. Why? For one, you can make content and system changes yourself without having to rely on a web designer. This is huge for organizations and businesses with frequently changing content. But there are several content management systems out there and each have their own strengths and weaknesses. The two leaders in the CMS world are Drupal and Joomla. Both offer similar abilities (i.e. manage your own content) and both are very capable systems. So why choose one over the other?
The Drupal Advantage
If all you need is a simple blog, a program like Wordpress will serve you well. If you are needing a more robust site that you want to manage yourself and are not "technically oriented," a Joomla site may be for you. Drupal, however, offers the best combination of flexibility and power of any content management system. It is built on a solid and well-defined infrastructure, is infinitely extensible through the use of modules and themes and is able to support both single and multi-site setups. It also boasts the best search engine optimization "out-of-the-box" and the ability to host true community-oriented sites.
